Newsletter Week of April 1

     Hats off to the fifth grade!  The class has put a lot of effort into supporting our school! The Charger Challenge FUN RUN has kept us busy getting pledges, setting goals to get prizes, and learning about character traits. I hope the students will remember to have good CITIZENSHIP, find ZEST in whatever they do, push for mind GROWTH daily, display INTEGRITY always, and  encourage TEAMWORK.   Thank you parents for helping us "SPARK MINDS."
     Also, the students have been working hard on their poetry books.  We hope to finish writing our poems before our Easter break.
       Don't forget our class will be visiting Tryon Palace on April 9th. Please read and fill out the field trip and lunch forms as soon as possible. Forms and monies are due no later than April 6th.

Newsletter Week of March 25



Note from the Teacher:

Here are a few reminders about our up coming projects and events:

FUN RUN
  • Don't forget to take the  "weekend challenge" and reach out to friends and family to support our school by giving pledges towards the number of laps your student will complete on the day of the Fun Run. Visit funrun.com to learn more information.  
  • Our class has been excited to "spark minds" as they learn how to be better citizens and create zest in their daily activties. 
  • Thank you for helping us be a better school on person at a time! 
POETRY PROJECT 
         
          The students started a poetry project this week. This project will take place over the next couple of weeks and will focus on the process as well as the end results. The final product will be a book filled with different kinds of poetry and illustrations all written and created by the students. Please refer to the guidelines given to your child to help with this project. The poetry books will be presented at Young Author's Night on May 7. Thank you for your continued support. 

FIELD TRIP
  • Our class will be visiting Tryon Palace on April 9th. 
  • Look for more information and forms next week.  Forms and monies will be due no later than April 5th.

Note from the Teacher:
            Also, please sign up for the Charger Challenege FUN RUN on March 29. Just go to www.funrun.com and register your child. Also, check your child's Friday folder for more information on how to register, enter pledges, and track progress. This will be an exciting event for all the kids as well as a great way to earn some extra money for our school. Thank you for your support!  

          Fast approaching is the annual egg hunt for our preschool book buddies. On April 16, the fifth grade will be hosting an egg hunt.  We are asking for donations of plastic eggs and individual pieces of wrapped candy to fill the eggs. (No hard candy or peanut products.) Please send in items by Monday the 1st. Thank you for making this a fun time for our class and our book buddies.
