Note from the Teacher

       Welcome back!  Hope everyone is relaxed and rested from our long break.  We are excited to get back into the swing of things.   
      This week the class will finish the novel  The Witch of Blackbird Pond.   It has been such a great book!   The students will take a final test on the novel this Tuesday and letters are due on January 14.  Also, the students selected a famous  African American to research and study in honor of  Black History month coming soon.  We will work on this assignment both at school  and at home.   Project guidelines were sent home with each student in Friday folder.  

Areas of Focus 

Math: Topic 8 Shapes 

Reading:  The Witch of Blackbird Pond *test Tuesday

Genre: Historical Fiction

Language Arts:  Writing and editing letters; research and note taking 
Friendly letter  assignment due on Monday Jan. 14
